This is the track kit for those that need to get the maximum from there stock brake system. A typical front big brake kit starts at this price without many of the goodies in this kit. Includes Girodisc two-piece rotors front and rear, stainless braided lines, front and rear Ti shields, Ferodo DS2500 pads all around and AMS's brake duct package. Two bottles of Motul RBF600 brake fluid are thrown in for good measure. This kit is the real deal. Purchase these components as a package deal and receive a discount over buying them individually.
The Girodisc system is a direct replacement for the OE disc. No modifications are necessary. The disc will bolt directly to the car and work with OE calipers perfectly. By upgrading your brakes with lightweight high performance replacements as opposed to a big brake kit, your factory bias is maintained as well as your ABS efficiency. The Girodisc front rotors are approx 3-5lbs lighter per rotor then the stock units. The rear rotors are approx 11lbs vs. 14.5lbs for the stock units. This reduction in rotational and unsprung weight allows for quicker acceleration and suspension response.
The central hat section of the disc is made from 6061-T6 aircraft specification aluminum. The disc is made from cast iron to the same specification and material as used by professional racing organizations. It is a curved vane design, developed in racing to act as a centrifugal pump to force cooling air through the disc.
The rotor and hat have a floating mount system, which utilizes 8 or 10 high strength alloy steel drive pins, manufactured by Girodisc to our own specifications and cadmium plated for a long lasting corrosion resistance. These pins take the load from braking actions while maintaining the axial and radial float between the hat and disc. In order to keep the rotors from making noise when cold, the pins are mounted with anti-noise spring washers on the rotor side which allow the rotor to grow with heat expansion but eliminate the rattle and noise associated with floating rotors. This float also allows the rotor to self center between the pads.
Once the Girodisc system is in place, simply replace the cast iron rotor when needed.
Removing compliance from the brake system greatly improves pedal feel and response. This involves replacing rubber flex hoses with braided stainless lines, swapping out stock pads for ones with more bite and less compressibility, and flushing the system with a racing spec brake fluid. These improvements offer an immediate noticeable difference in performance.
Choose this kit with Ferodo DS2500 pads if you want the highest performance street set-up a stage 1 kit can offer. Normally these pads bed-in easy and produce little to no noise, but we all know exceptions exist. We have therefore included our incredibly effective anti-noise shims with this kit as a little extra insurance! These are the best hot street pads, offering fade resistance to 1000F without eating your rotors. We recently rebuilt a set of our customer’s 2-piece rotors with over 60K miles on them running DS2500 pads! The only downside to these is dust. If you can't stand dust, refer to our Magic pad packages!
