Girodisc Slotted 2pc Rear Rotors for 986 S $1,100.00

Girodisc announces its new two-piece brake rotor system for Porsche 996, 997, 986S, 987S, and Cayman S. The Girodisc brake rotor system is a direct replacement for the OE discs, and provides significant performance benefits. The system is roughly 8% larger in diameter than the OE rotors. To allow for this, the caliper is spaced radially outboard to match the diameter increase with aluminum spacers. The rotors are compatible with any of the current pads typically used with these cars.

Additional product benefits of the Girodisc brake rotor system include:

• Braking Performance: The rotor is a two-piece design developed in racing to produce a lightweight rotor that can compensate for the different expansion rates between the hat and rotor and eliminate the possibility of rotor warping. The rotor and hat have a floating mount system, which utilizes 10 high strength alloy steel drive pins, which allows for axial and radial float. In order to keep the rotors from making noise when cold, the pins are mounted with anti-noise springs which allow the rotor to grow but eliminate rattle. This float also allows the rotor to self center between the pads. The rotors are 8% larger than OE, and fit in your stock wheels. The front rotor is 340 MM vs. 317 MM, and 325 MM vs. 299 MM at the rear. The increased diameter provides a larger effective radius, or torque arm the pads act upon, giving more braking force for the same system pressure. The internal directionally curved vanes act as a centrifugal air pump and actively move cooling air through the rotor as it rotates, helping to shed heat quickly and reduce brake pad fading. The discs are also slotted, allowing a maximized contact at the interface between pad and disc as the edges of the slots continuously clean and refresh the pad surface. No more cracked rotors from drillings. Slots also prevent the formation of a water film on the disc in wet weather, maintaining the best brake response.

• More heat sink without a weight penalty: The Girodisc disc set weights in a little lighter than the OE system but with an important advantage. The rotors have grown in diameter. This means that weight has been transferred from the center hat were it does nothing to the outer diameter where it is actively absorbing and dispersing heat. More heat sink without a weight penalty. The Girodisc front discs offer a 18% improvement in surface area-to-weight for the rotor. The rear discs offer a 19% improvement in surface area-to-weight.

• High Quality Materials: The Girodisc system uses only the highest quality materials and components. The rotors are high carbon content iron for long wear and stable thermal performance. The top hat section is machined from billet aluminum with an attractive anodized finish. The rotor rings are bright zinc plated to help prevent unsightly corrosion. Girodisc also stocks racing and street pads, titanium pad backing plates, caliper rebuild kits, tools and fluids.
